Biography

Why did you choose to come to À¦°óÇ¿¼é?
I chose to come to À¦°óÇ¿¼é to enable me to stay at home while I studied, allowing me to carry on working and remain close to friends and family. Despite wanting to stay at home, I still wanted that interactive in-person learning environment, making À¦°óÇ¿¼é`s partnership with Plymouth University the perfect choice for me.

What made you pick this particular course?
Having previously always been passionate about English Language and Literature, Business was a passion I discovered while being a Business Apprentice in the hospitality sector. I felt and still do feel that Business allows me to indulge in my creative side while also allowing for more lucrative career prospects.

What have been the highlights so far?
As cliché as it sounds, I can honestly say I have enjoyed every aspect of my course. I am fortunate to benefit from engaging lecturers who make each class exciting and impactful and have enjoyed studying alongside like-minded individuals whose opinions and knowledge base has helped me expand my own understanding. My class has benefited from a range of enthralling guest speakers over the last few semesters, all of whom offered insight that made them stand out as highlights within my first year.

What do you most enjoy about studying at À¦°óÇ¿¼é?
The purpose built HE building has allowed for an authentic University experience which I have enjoyed having come back to À¦°óÇ¿¼é three years after I first left. À¦°óÇ¿¼é is a place of opportunity and innovation and it’s been exciting watching different opportunities for personal development appear during my first year. I am excited to see what further opportunities I can engage in during the rest of my course.

Did you undertake any work experience throughout your studies?
I am currently consulting with a renowned leisure business within the local area, helping them to expand and branch out into other areas of the market. This has proven to be an enthralling opportunity that is very much making use of what I have learnt while also allowing me to develop my skill set. The work experience has reaffirmed what my next steps are to be.

What do you plan to do when you leave À¦°óÇ¿¼é?
Upon completion of my second year, I will be doing my BA year at Plymouth, hoping to progress into my Masters year following that.

What’s the long-term plan?
What drew me to study business was the multitude of opportunities. Career options are broad, and I have no set commitment to one particular career, but rather feel that I will find what is right for me as I study. I do know that in whatever career I pursue, I want to have the capacity to make a significant and positive impact on the society in which we live. I feel this desire will steer me in the right direction. I am determined to complete my BA in Business which will then allow me to decide on a Masters in either Marketing or International Relations.

Any advice for someone thinking of choosing the same course as you?
My advice for someone thinking about choosing this course would be to not think too hard, and to just take the leap, the benefits will continue to surprise you and there honestly isn’t a sector of work that doesn’t pertain in some way to this degree. Business is multi-faceted and exciting, there is genuinely something for everyone, so there is bound to be something for you.
